Darryl K. Segars is in private practice specializing in commercial and civil litigation, providing counsel in a wide array of areas, including, but not limited to, healthcare litigation, school law, automobile negligence, and civil rights as well as labor and employment matters. He represents institutions, professionals, and individuals in litigation in both state and federal courts. After law school, Mr. Segars served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Denise Page Hood of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Following this clerkship, he served as staff counsel to Congressman John Conyers, who was then the ranking member of the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee. Mr. Segars presently serves as a member of the board of directors of the Michigan Council of School Attorneys and as a life member of the Judicial Conference for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit of the United States. In addition to the Litigation Section, he is also a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan (SBM). Mr. Segars previously served as an editor of "The Affiliate" (a publication of the American Bar Association) and as an executive council member of the SBM's Young Lawyers Section.
