Stuart M. Sakwa is a practicing CPA and was a founding shareholder of Silverman, Kaplan, Sakwa, CPAs, PC, which recently merged into Schlaupitz Madhavan, PC. While he has worked in all areas of tax and accounting during his career, he focuses his practice on business and individual tax as well as financial planning. Mr. Sakwa spends significant time in the estate and trust area, particularly pre- and postmortem planning and administration, using a collaborative team approach. He received two undergraduate degrees, one in prelegal studies from the University of Michigan and a bachelor of accountancy from Walsh College. He also earned his MS in taxation from Walsh College. In addition to being a CPA, Mr. Sakwa is also a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) and a licensed real estate salesman. His affiliations include the Michigan Association of CPAs (Eldercare Planning Task Force, Financial Literacy Task Force, Special Tax Task Force, and Financial Planning Expert Panel), the American Institute for CPAs (Financial Planning and Taxation Divisions), and the Financial and Estate Planning Council of Metro Detroit.
