Salli Pung serves as the Michigan Long Term Care ombudsman and has more than 30 years of experience working in various aspects of long-term care. She specializes in federal and state statutes, regulations, and rules pertinent to Medicaid and Medicare related to long-term supports and services, including nursing homes. Ms. Pung oversees a program serving more than 110,000 individuals residing in nursing homes, homes for the aged, and adult foster care homes across Michigan; directs staff and operations; advocates for quality of life, person-centered care, dignity, rights, and informed choice; and represents interests of long-term care residents before governmental agencies and legislature. Prior to joining the program, Ms. Pung worked at the Michigan Public Health Institute for 19 years. She also serves as second vice president of the National Association of State Ombudsman Programs; secretary of the Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program; chair of the Michigan Olmstead Coalition; and chair of the Michigan Attorney General’s Elder Abuse Task Force.
