Kathryn J. Humphrey practices in the areas of complex and high-stakes matters in aviation, automotive, and industrial products; construction and commercial disputes; and environmental litigation. She has successfully defended product liability claims concerning chemicals; natural gas; automobiles and trucks; general aviation aircraft; airline, executive jet, and cargo aircraft; paper-making machinery; and materials handling equipment. Ms. Humphrey has also handled multimillion-dollar construction and contract law disputes and trademark and RICO matters. She is a past practice group leader for the firm's 150-member Litigation Group. Ms. Humphrey is a certified commercial arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, has completed the 40-hour ICLE mediation training, and has been certified as a senior human resource professional by the Society for Human Resource Management. She has served as a case evaluator in dozens of matters in the state courts of Michigan and routinely serves as an early intervention conference facilitator in the Oakland County Circuit Court. Ms. Humphrey serves on the executive committee of the Board of Visitors for Wayne State University Law School and is a past member of the Local Rules Advisory Committee to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. She is a past president of the board of directors of the Legal Aid and Defender Association of Detroit, a founding member of the International Aviation Women's Association, and a member of the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association and the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association.
