Kurt E. Schnelz is a principal shareholder in the firm and has been in practice since 1985. He maintains a traditional litigation practice, exclusively in the area of family law. Mr. Schnelz also frequently serves as a mediator and arbitrator in family law matters. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (past president - Michigan chapter), a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers, and a diplomat of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers. Mr. Schnelz is listed each year in "The Best Lawyers in America," Michigan Super Lawyers by Super Lawyers, the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers by Martindale Hubbell, and the Best Lawyers in Metro Detroit by "dBusiness." He also maintains an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating given for ethics and legal ability. Mr. Schnelz is very active in bar activities at both state and local levels. He is one of the longest serving commissioners for the State Bar of Michigan (SBM) and is past president of the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA). For his service to the SBM, he received the Robert P. Hudson Award, the highest award the SBM gives. He has also received the Professionalism Award from the OCBA.
