Hulen R. Simpson was appointed Friend of the Court referee for the Third Circuit Court--Wayne County in 2011. He began his legal career in 1984 as a member of the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board. Mr. Simpson then began a solo practice focusing on family law, juvenile law, criminal law, and probate law primarily in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. Following his solo practice, he worked as managing attorney, staff attorney, and Michigan Prisoner Re-entry Legal Coordinator with the Legal Aid and Defender Association, Civil Law Group in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Simpson is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Referee Association of Michigan.
