Hon. Daniel B. Bain

Hon. Daniel B. Bain was appointed by the governor as judge of the 53rd District court on September 18, 2019. Before taking the bench, Judge Bain was in private practice with the firm of Bain & Bain, PC, for 25 years. While in private practice, he practiced law with his late father, John I. (Jack) Bain, and his older brother, John I. Bain, Jr. Judge Bain represented clients in a wide variety of legal matters including misdemeanors, felonies and capital felony matters, complex commercial litigations, landlord-tenant disputes, business litigation, probate litigation, and divorce matters. He also made frequent appearances in front of multiple administrative boards, including township boards, city councils, zoning boards of appeal, the Michigan Liquor License Commission, and the Michigan Office of Secretary of State. While in private practice, Judge Bain litigated and tried many cases in multiple jurisdictions throughout the state of Michigan. He also frequently lectures to middle school and high school students regarding issues pertaining to criminal law and the decisions that affect people's lives. Judge Bain is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Livingston County Bar Association, and the Michigan Association for Justice. He also serves on the board of directors for the Livingston County Community Alliance and The Arc Livingston County.
