John D. Miller is a tax attorney and has been with DTE since 2014, specializing in corporate tax planning and controversy matters. Prior to that, he was a senior manager in the M&A tax group of KPMG LLP, where he advised clients with all aspects of mergers and acquisitions including tax due diligence, acquisition tax structuring, disposition tax planning, E&P and stock basis studies, and services related to troubled companies. Prior to joining KPMG, he was a shareholder with Fraser Trebilcock, where he counseled clients in federal, state, and local taxation; tax controversy; M&A; business law; and nonprofit organizations. He has also served as an adjunct law professor at the University of Detroit Mercy and Michigan State University, teaching partnership and corporate taxation. He is licensed to practice law in Michigan and Georgia.
