Randolph T. Barker represents businesses, individuals, and municipalities on a broad spectrum of complex commercial, real estate, employment, and probate litigation matters. He also serves as outside general counsel to several businesses and nonprofit organizations, advising them on matters related to formation, daily operations, regulatory compliance, and protection of intellectual property. Additionally, Mr. Barker is known for his expertise with defending law enforcement agencies and police officers against claims of excessive or unreasonable force, false arrest, failure to intervene or provide medical care, and failure to train or supervise. Before joining the firm as a senior counsel in 2019, Mr. Barker spent more than 16 years with a Detroit-based business and employment firm, where he was a partner. As a mediator certified by the Michigan Supreme Court, Mr. Barker is frequently called upon by trial court judges, arbitrators, and lawyers to facilitate resolution of civil disputes. Mr. Barker has written several articles on mediation, employment and real estate issues for the “Michigan Bar Journal,” “ABA Journal,” “Michigan Real Property Review,” and local bar journals, among other professional publications, and frequently lectures for ICLE and other business and professional groups on those topics. He is a member of the Real Property Law, Labor and Employment Law, and Litigation Sections of the State Bar of Michigan and Ohio State Bar Association, is the current chair of the Real Estate Law Section and past chair of the Employment and Labor Law Section of the Washtenaw County Bar Association, and also serves on the Oakland County Bar Association’s ADR and Probate committees. Mr. Barker’s achievements include recognition by Michigan Super Lawyers, Michigan Leading Lawyers, and “DBusiness” Top Lawyers.
