Jennifer L. Johnsen cofounded the firm in August 2006. In March 2019 she cofounded Rapid QDRO, PLLC, after five years of drafting QDROs (Qualified Domestic Relations Orders) as an unofficial subpart of her practice. Ms. Johnsen also provides divorce and QDRO drafting services as part of West Michigan’s Legal Aid pro bono program. Ms. Johnsen began her legal career as a staff lawyer with Legal Services of South Central Michigan in Battle Creek. She focused her work on representing victims of domestic violence and low-income community members. In addition, she spearheaded the establishment of a divorce clinic for victims of domestic violence. She was also a member of the Calhoun County Domestic Violence Coordinated Community Response Team and Secretary of the Calhoun County Bar Association. In 2016 she was elected to the Michigan State Bar’s Family Law Council, and she continues as a council member and cochair of the Court Rules and Professional Ethics Committee. Ms. Johnsen has presented on third-party custody matters at the State Bar’s Family Law Section Midsummer Conference and presented at an NBI seminar regarding preparing a divorce case for settlement and trial, as well as on QDRO drafting and tips for paralegals in assisting lawyers in these areas. Her recognitions include: 2012 Rising Star, Super Lawyers; “Grand Rapids Magazine’s" 2020 and 2021 Top Lawyers (family law); and 2020 Michigan Super Lawyers.
