Thomas N. Doty, director of intellectual asset protection at the firm, has more than 30 years of experience in the technology, software, and consulting industries. For the last 15 years, he has advised Fortune 100 companies on legal issues concerning cybersecurity, data privacy, information management, and cyber governance matters. Mr. Doty is currently focusing on current and proposed changes in the FRCP relating to technical competency and the effects of those changes upon litigation practice and representation of clients. He holds several vendor technical credentials and is internationally certified in IP mediation and commercial arbitration. Mr. Doty serves on the board and was past chair of the Arts, Communications, Entertainment, and Sports Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He is also a member of the Information Technology Section and past codirector of LES Pacific Northwest. He is admitted to the bar in Michigan and California and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth and Ninth Circuits, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the Northern District of California. In addition to his JD, Mr. Doty was awarded an LLM in intellectual property (technology and business) from the Franklin Pierce Center at the University of New Hampshire.
