Christopher S. Patterson focuses his law practice on the representation of municipalities, particularly in land use and zoning, marijuana, and municipal governance issues. He assists dozens of municipalities on a variety of matters and serves as lead counsel to several of the firm’s municipal clients. Mr. Patterson has expertise in the laws that govern marijuana, including the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act, and Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act. He assists municipalities by providing comprehensive recommendations and drafting ordinances based on proven strategies. Mr. Patterson was named by Super Lawyers as a Michigan Rising Star in State, Local and Municipal Law in 2019 and 2020. He is a member of MAMA and several sections of the State Bar of Michigan, including the Cannabis Law Section. He serves on the council of the Administrative and Regulatory Law Section of the State Bar and cochair of the Ingham County Bar Association’s Real Estate Section. He is also a member of Inns of Court-MSU Chapter and a Michigan real estate licensed salesperson.
