Brian Schwartz represents management in various aspects of labor and employment counseling and litigation. A principal at his firm, Mr. Schwartz is the leader of the firm's employment and labor group. His practice focuses on defending single-plaintiff and class-action lawsuits involving retiree health benefit disputes, employment discrimination (race, gender, and disability discrimination), harassment, and retaliation claims, as well as wage and hour claims, Employee Retirement Income Security Act disputes, Title IX claims, and due-process lawsuits. Mr. Schwartz is a cochair of the American Bar Association's Employee Benefits Committee's subcommittee on collective bargaining and employee benefits. He is a contributing author to Bloomberg BNA's "Employee Benefit Law" treatise, a Michigan chapter author for Bloomberg BNA's "Employment at Will: A State-by-State Survey" treatise, and a contributor to Bloomberg BNA's "Family Medical Leave Act" treatise supplements.
