Jeffrey V. H. Sluggett devotes his practice entirely to municipal law. He currently serves as city attorney for Coopersville, Kentwood, Ionia, Cedar Springs, and Walker; as township attorney for Alpine, Martin, North Plains, Thornapple, and Wright Townships; and as village attorney for the villages of Howard City, Lakeview, Nashville, Pierson, and Sand Lake. A significant portion of his practice involves advising municipalities on land use and related issues. Mr. Sluggett has extensive experience in drafting and revising municipal ordinances and addressing governmental administrative issues. He is the former chair of the State Bar of Michigan's Government Law Section and a current member of its council. Mr. Sluggett is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys. A former member of the Michigan Municipal League’s Legislative and Urban Affairs Committee, he coauthored a governmental law section "Annual Survey of Michigan Law" in the "Wayne State Law Review." He has been recognized for multiple years for inclusion in "The Best Lawyers in America" for his practice in the area of municipal law.
