Patrick F. McGow focuses his practice on municipal law, advising cities, counties, townships, villages, and authorities on a broad range of infrastructure financing and related legal matters. In addition to serving as bond counsel in financing transactions, he advises his clients on special assessments, elections, millage and ballot proposals, state and federal tax issues, and other finance matters. Mr. McGow has written legislation on a variety of municipal finance and tax increment financing issues and has published articles and presented on municipal finance topics at numerous institutes and conferences. A member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers, he has served on the board of directors (2009 to 2011) and as chair of the Professional Development Committee (2005 to 2009) of the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association as well as on the board of directors since 2013 and as president, beginning in 2018, of the Bond Club of Detroit. In addition, he is a frequent speaker for various municipal government organizations, including the Michigan Municipal League, Michigan Government Finance Officers Association, Michigan Municipal Executives, Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association, Michigan Township Association, Michigan Association of Counties, and the Michigan Downtown Association. "U.S. News & World Report" has named Mr. McGow a Best Lawyer in America in public finance law every year since 2010 and, in 2018, named him lawyer of the year. "DBusiness" magazine has named him as a Top Lawyer in public finance every year since 2011, and he has been named a Michigan Super Lawyer in government finance since 2016.
