Joseph W. Colaianne counsels public and private clients in connection with complex public infrastructure projects, including financing, transactional, real estate, regulatory compliance, and governance. He has over 30 years of experience in municipal and public sector law. Currently, Mr Colaianne is the general counsel for the Four Lakes Task Force, a Michigan nonprofit organization that was appointed by Midland and Gladwin Counties to serve as their delegated authority in connection with the recovery and restoration of the lakes that were drained or damaged due to catastrophic dam failure in May 2020. Before joining Clark Hill, he was a deputy drain commissioner, legal counsel, and insurance administrator for the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner; an assistant Cook County, Illinois, states attorney; assistant Oakland County prosecutor; and senior assistant Oakland County corporation counsel. Mr. Colaianne served as a Hartland Township trustee and on Hartland’s planning commission. He is cofounder of the nonprofit Hartland Enrichment and Recreation Organization, which operates the Hartland Teen Center, an after-school haven for teens. Mr. Colaianne is a regular presenter at Michigan Association of County Drain Commissioners conferences and district meetings.
