Christopher J. Harrington began working as a family division referee for the court in June 2017. He previously worked in private practice for 11 years at Harrington Law PLC in Novi. As a private practitioner, Mr. Harrington dedicated his practice to a full range of family law matters, including divorce, custody, adoption, paternity, support, and separate maintenance cases. He also focused on probate and estate planning. Mr. Harrington has served as a council member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Family Law Section for six consecutive years, beginning in 2011. He has worked on the membership, technology, legislation, and court rules/ethics committees (of which he is currently chair), and was elected to the executive board as recording secretary of the council for 2017-2018. Mr. Harrington frequently presents at seminars and conferences on family law-related topics, including annual caselaw updates, custody evaluations, law practice management tips, attorney liens, tax tips, and more. He has made several contributions to “Michigan Family Law Journal,” including an analysis on separate property and prenuptial agreements following the series of “Allard” decisions through the Michigan appellate courts.
