James J. Prescott, a professor of law and codirector of both the Empirical Legal Studies Center and Program in Law and Economics, teaches courses in criminal law and procedure, labor and employment law, negotiation, and law and economics. He is the principal investigator of the University of Michigan Online Court Project, which uses technology to help people facing warrants, fines, and minor charges resolve their disputes with the government and courts online without needing to hire an attorney. Mr. Prescott has published numerous articles and spoken at conferences on the topics of sex offender recidivism, noncompetition agreements, and trial and settlements.
