FAQs

  • What are the differences between ICLE's online certificates?

The Elder Law Certificate Program is the most comprehensive certificate. It provides skills training in every critical area of elder law. In comparison, the other certificates are more specialized. They take a deep dive into specific issues within a practice area. All certificates are self-paced and lead toward a certificate of completion. They include video demonstrations, guided self-assessments, downloadable forms, and other reference materials such as Michigan-specific charts.

  • How does an online certificate subscription work?

An online subscription provides unlimited access for one or two years—depending on the certificate. Complete the online lessons in any order and revisit them as needed.

  • How do I earn a certificate of completion?

Earning a certificate is optional. Once you complete all lessons during the time you have continuously subscribed to a certificate, you will be able to print a certificate of completion.

  • Do you offer a free trial?

Yes. A free 3-day trial is available to Michigan lawyers. Access is provided to every lesson for three consecutive days. No commitment or credit card is required. Simply submit your P#. You’ll get an automatic welcome email with your username and password. You may try each online certificate only once. Answers to self-assessments will not be saved during the trial, allowing you to start from a clean slate if you purchase. Trial participants are not eligible to receive a certificate of completion.

  • How does a certificate help me save on malpractice insurance?

You could save up to 5% on malpractice insurance by earning an ICLE certificate. Plus, if you earn the Elder Law Certificate and update it to the current year, you could save another 2%. Learn more at www.icle.org/cna.

  • Do ICLE Partners get a discount on online certificates?

Yes. Partners always save $70–$600, depending on the certificate.

  • Can I purchase online certificate subscriptions for my firm?

Certificates are sold as individual subscriptions. Firms may purchase subscriptions for lawyers, but the purchase is specific to each individual lawyer and cannot be transferred or shared. The certificates are stand-alone training programs that teach individual lawyers specific skills. They're not a general research resource for everyone in a firm.

  • How are ICLE's online certificates different than ICLE's live certificates?

ICLE's online certificates teach lawyers specific skills. They take a deep dive into challenging issues that most lawyers face. In contrast, the live certificates provide a broad overview of key topics within a practice area like probate and estate planning or family law.
