Deborah P. Paruch is a professor of law at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law whose scholarship focuses on family law, children and the law, evidence, and legal writing. Before her current position at University of Detroit Mercy, she was on the faculty of the School of Business Administration at Oakland University where she taught financial accounting and tax. Ms. Paurch previously practiced as a certified public accountant and at the Dykema Gossett law firm. She also served as the executive director of Habitat for Humanity in Detroit; was a past chair of the board of directors of the South Oakland Shelter, a Michigan nonprofit organization devoted to serving homeless individuals and families; and has held a Community Builders Fellowship position with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Ms. Paurch is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (SBM), the American Bar Association, the Legal Writing Institute, and the Spero Housing Group (a subsidiary of the South Oakland Shelter). She currently serves on the Children's Law Council and on the Legislative Committee of the Children's Law Section of the SBM.
