James F. Mauro is a member of Dickinson Wright PLLC. He practices in the areas of tax, corporate, and real estate law. Before joining the firm, he served as legal counsel for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), as a senior tax attorney with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, and as a special assistant U.S. attorney with the Department of Justice. With expertise in tax appeals, audits, controversies, and litigation, Mr. Mauro currently represents individuals, small businesses, and major corporations in tax and general business matters. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan's Taxation Section and a former chairperson of its Practice and Procedures Committee. Mr. Mauro is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association (WD Mich), and the Ingham County Bar Association. A graduate of Cooley Law School, he is a former member of its Board of Governors (1987-2005) and a former adjunct professor teaching in the business curriculum section. Mr. Mauro was given Excellence in Partnering Recognition by the IRS and was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.
