Peter A. Lichtenberg, Ph.D., ABPP is a distinguished professor of psychology and gerontology at Wayne State University. Dr. Lichtenberg is a board certified clinical geropsychologist. His clinical and research focus are at the intersection of early cognitive decline, financial capacity, and financial exploitation. Dr. Lichtenberg created several person-centered financial decision-making and vulnerability scales, the SAFE program for older adults and caregivers and now is working on the SAFE as Prevention project. He served as the 2022 president of the Gerontological Society of America and was the 2024 Donald P. Kent award winner.
