Kurt Piwko is a tax partner serving in a tax leadership capacity as a member of the firm’s National Tax Office. He is responsible for tracking and informing staff and clients of current tax developments and for consulting on emerging tax issues and other tax technical issues. Mr. Piwko frequently speaks on these issues and is published in both internal and external communications, including co-authoring the Tackling Taxes column in TAXES - The Tax Magazine. He focuses his practice on tax aspects of transactions and frequently plans the purchase, sale, formation, and restructuring of businesses. He leads the Tax Accounting Methods practice focusing on the proper application of tax methods of accounting, and represents taxpayers with the IRS National Office with respect to changes in tax methods of accounting. Mr. Piwko is a member of the Private Equity industry group and consults on a variety of matters with private equity funds and their portfolio companies. He also is a member of the Manufacturing & Distribution industry group and works frequently with automotive and other manufacturing clients. He oversees tax compliance engagements of large multi-state and multi-national clients within these and other industry groups.
