Practicing in the area of insurance law, Hal O. Carroll is a cofounder of the Insurance and Indemnity Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He served as its chairperson from its inception in 2007 until 2009 and remains on the section council. Mr. Carroll is also editor of the section's publication, the "Journal of Insurance and Indemnity Law." He practices extensively in the areas of civil appeals and indemnity and insurance coverage, both in handling declaratory judgment actions and in advising clients and referring counsel on coverage in cases involving issues arising out of a wide range of policies, including commercial general liability, homeowners, and commercial and personal automobile policies. Mr. Carroll is a national coverage counsel for a nationwide self-insurance group and is responsible for advising on policy drafting as well as coverage issues and declaratory judgment actions. He has published numerous articles in the area of insurance coverage and indemnity.
