John R. Runyan practices labor and employment law, representing employees and labor organizations. He also serves as an Arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association’s Employment and Consumer Arbitration Panels. Mr. Runyan currently serves as chair of the State Bar of Michigan (SBM) Michigan Bar Journal Standing Committee and is a former chair of the SBM's Labor and Employment Law Section. He previously served as president of the Detroit chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the Detroit Bar Association, and the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a national honorary organization. Mr. Runyan is a recipient of the Julian Abele Cook, Jr. - Bernard A. Friedman Federal Bar Association Civility Award, the Distinguished Service Award presented by the SBM's Labor and Employment Law Section, and the SBM's John W. Cummiskey Pro Bono Award.
