                                Hon. Annete J. Berry was elected to the court bench in November of 2000 and reelected in 2006, 2012, 2018, and 2024. She served in the Criminal Division of the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan from 2001 to 2013 and in the Civil Division since 2013. In 2023, Judge Berry was appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to serve on the Wayne County Business Court, and was re-appointed in 2025 to a six-year term. In 1988 she joined the Office of the Michigan Attorney General after being appointed as an assistant attorney general by Attorney General Frank J. Kelly. Judge Berry is a past president of the Michigan Judges Association (MJA) and past chairperson for the MJA's Corrections Committee, as well as serving as a member of the MJA's executive board of directors for nearly two decades. She currently serves on the State Bar of Michigan's Judicial Council, Judicial Ethics Committee, and Special Committee on Professionalism & Civility; as a member of the Michigan Model Civil Jury Instructions Committee; and as a delegate to the American Bar Association Judicial Division.  Judge Berry is also a fellow with the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation and with the Detroit Bar Association. Since 2008, she has served as as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and has also taught as an adjunct professor for the Ave Maria School of Law. In addition, she currently serves as president of the Father Kern Foundation of the Most Holy Trinity Church in Detroit and on the board of directors for the Catholic Lawyers Society.
