Trisha A. Gerard serves as Principal Attorney in charge of both the Elder Abuse Unit and the Domestic Violence Unit. She joined the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office in 2001, when she was appointed Special Assistant Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney responsible for prosecuting domestic violence cases in 13 Downriver communities. In 2006, Ms. Gerard became an assistant prosecuting attorney for Wayne County assigned to the Special Victims Unit--Domestic Violence Division, where she continued to prosecute domestic violence cases until she was promoted to Lead Attorney in charge of the Elder Abuse Unit in 2011. She was promoted to Principal Attorney in 2015. A graduate of the University of the Toledo College of Law, Ms. Gerard began her career in private practice, serving as the city prosecutor for the City of Flat Rock and then specializing in criminal defense and family law before opening her own general law practice. Ms. Gerard serves on the board of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Association of Michigan Elder Justice Project and has traveled the state providing training and technical assistance to prosecutors, law enforcement, adult protective service workers, and other professionals who assist the elderly and vulnerable adults. In addition, she is cochair of the Wayne County Counsel Against Family Violence and the Wayne County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team.
