Steven P. Joppich is a shareholder of the firm and currently serves as city attorney for the city of Farmington Hills and as township attorney for Independence Township. He also serves as general counsel to the Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Commission and assists in providing general counsel representation to the cities of Novi and Farmington. He also serves as special counsel to numerous other communities throughout Michigan. He has devoted his legal career to representing the interests of governmental entities. Since 1994, he has assisted local governments throughout Michigan with a variety of legal issues both in and out of the courtroom. As a result, he has gained substantial expertise in a diverse and broad cross section of municipal law. In addition to advising municipalities in his capacity as general counsel, he has successfully represented both public and private clients in an array of civil court cases. His courtroom work has required him to defend his clients in a myriad of cases involving land use, zoning, and real estate law. Mr. Joppich has served as chair of the State Bar of Michigan (SBM) Government Law Section, as well as chair of the Municipal Law Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association. He is a member of the SBM Government Law and Real Property Law Sections, the Oakland County Bar Association, the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys, the Michigan Municipal League, Michigan Townships Association, and the Catholic Society of Lawyers. He is a frequent speaker for many of these organizations and regularly provides training seminars for individual planning commissions, zoning boards of appeals, and other municipal boards, commissions and councils. Mr. Joppich has an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell. He's named in the Leading Lawyers, designated Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in municipal law, listed in "The Best Lawyers in America," selected to Super Lawyers by Thomson Reuters, and named Top Lawyer by "Dbusiness." He is a member of the inaugural class of inductees into the Academy of Municipal Attorneys by the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys under the Michigan Municipal League.
