Stephen L. Tupper’s practice focuses on technology development and licensing, commercial transactions, privacy/data security, and aviation and aerospace. He is a former chair of the Aviation Law and Information Technology Law Sections of the State Bar of Michigan. His aviation and aerospace practice includes purchase, sale, lease, and operation of aircraft, from small general-aviation aircraft to transport-category jets. He is a commercial pilot with private, commercial, and/or instructor privileges in gliders, single- and multi-engine land airplanes, and single-engine seaplanes, and he holds an instrument-rating and a type rating (SIC) in the Douglas DC-3/C-47. Mr. Tupper is a lieutenant colonel and the legal officer for the Michigan Wing of Civil Air Patrol (U.S. Air Force Auxiliary) and also serves as an instructor pilot and check-pilot examiner. He is an airshow performer and air boss. Mr. Tupper originated, and serves as air boss for, the Tuskegee Airmen Detroit River Days Airshow, an annual surface-waivered airshow each June over the Detroit River in some of the most complex airspace in North America.
