Samuel J. Haidle is group leader of his firm's intellectual property practice. Mr. Haidle has prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications in an array of technologies. He was cocounsel on the seminal "KSR International Co v Teleflex, Inc" case, in which the U.S. Supreme Court eventually ruled regarding the issue of obviousness as applied to patent claims. Mr. Haidle holds a degree in aerospace engineering and partnered with NASA and Thiokol during his undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida. He now oversees a highly experienced and multitalented team of engineers turned attorneys and regularly trains and mentors young law students through his firm’s highly regarded IP intern program. Mr. Haidle's 25+ years of practice is often tapped during due diligence projects. He has assisted clients in placing a value on a portfolio that is part of a sale or is being acquired and drafting and negotiating of license agreements for licensors or licensees. Regularly recognized as a leader in the profession, Mr. Haidle’s honors include being named in "The Best Lawyers in America" in 2021; a Michigan Leading Lawyer in 2017-2021; as a Top Lawyer by "DBusiness" magazine in 2012-2014, 2016, and 2020; and as a Michigan Super Lawyer in 2011-2019. In addition, he is part of the advisory board for "SEEN" magazine, which promotes local businesses and people in the Detroit metropolitan area, and is on the board of governors for Cranbrook Schools.
