John Duane Kmetz has been a Circuit Court referee for more than 11 years. He previously worked at the firm of Hess, Hess, and Kmetz for more than nine years, practicing primarily in family law as well as estate planning and working with small businesses. He has served as president of the Family Bar in Kent County and is a longtime member of the continuing education committee of the Grand Rapids Bar Association. He graduated from Indiana University in 1987 with a BA in developmental psychology and Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1998.
