Daniel J. McCarthy is a shareholder at the firm and concentrates his practice in appellate and commercial litigation for both state and federal courts. He is highly skilled and sought after for appellate litigation and arbitration matters. A prolific writer, Mr. McCarthy has authored thousands of legal briefs during his career and he has garnered many victories in the appellate and circuit courts, as well as multiple arbitration awards in favor of his clients. He served as a law clerk intern for the Hon. Richard F. Suhrheinrich, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He later served as a law clerk for Chief Justice Marilyn J. Kelly, Michigan Supreme Court, from 1999 to 2000, and in 2000 he served as a prehearing attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals. Mr. McCarthy also served as an adjunct professor at Cooley Law School. A member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, and the Oakland County Bar Association, he has been named a Michigan Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers from 2014 to 2023 and recognized by "The Best Lawyers in America" in appellate practice and commercial litigation from 2021 to 2024. Mr. McCarthy is the author of "Business Contracts A to Z: Breach of Contract," published by the National Business Institute.
