James R. Gerometta is an attorney practicing criminal defense and professional ethics. After 25 years as a federal public defender, Mr. Gerometta began private practice in an of counsel relationship with Mogill & Lemanski, PLLC. While a public defender, he received the National Lawyers Guild Defender of Justice Award and the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan Justice for All Award for his work in successfully defending the nation's first post-911 terrorism case, which resulted in the dismissal of all charges against his client. Mr. Gerometta was the first training director for the Federal Community Defender of the Eastern District of Michigan, where he redesigned both the internal attorney and the Criminal Justice Act panel attorney training programs. He is a frequent lecturer at CLE presentations.
