Kate Weaver is an experienced and respected supervising domestic relations referee at the Friend of the Court. She serves as past president and co-conference chair of the Referees Association of Michigan. Ms. Weaver has presented at the ICLE Family Law Institute in 2023, 2017, 2015, and 2014. She is coauthor of the article "Litigating a ROPA Case," which was published in the 2016 "Family Law Journal," and she has also published a Legislative Update article on a regular and recurring basis in "Referees Quarterly," the Referees Association of Michigan publication. Ms. Weaver is a certified domestic relations mediator and a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. She began her legal career as a family law attorney for Legal Services of Eastern Michigan in Flint, Michigan. Ms. Weaver also worked at the Third Circuit Court in Wayne County, Michigan, for seven years and served as a judicial law clerk for Hon. Muriel D. Hughes. She was also appointed special assistant prosecuting attorney for the Office of the Special Prosecutor/Wayne County Friend of the Court and as the unit supervisor for the special assistant prosecuting attorneys.
