Erin Hankins Diaz

Erin Hankins Diaz focuses her practice in the area of special education law, representing clients with disabilities as well as filing state complaints and consulting with advocates within her agency. Ms. Diaz began her law career in 2015 as a Skadden Fellow, representing parents of children with disabilities in Detroit public schools. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is admitted in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. She is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan's Children's Law Section. At the 2019 annual conference of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, Ms. Diaz copresented "One Student, Many Systems," on navigating transition services for individuals with disabilities. She has also provided trainings on special education law to parents, advocates, and service providers. Ms. Diaz has been published in the "Brigham Young University Education and Law Journal" on the topic of special education services in charter-only school districts in Michigan. Prior to attending law school, she taught elementary school for four years in Los Angeles and Chicago.
