A Wayne County Circuit Court Judge from 1996 to 2006, Hon. Sean F. Cox was appointed U.S. District Court Judge in June 2006 and immediately assumed duty. Judge Cox has sat by designation with the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and has also served as a visiting judge for the Michigan Court of Appeals. Prior to his appointment to the Wayne County Circuit Court, he was in the full time practice of law as a partner with the law firm of Cummings, McClorey, Davis, and Acho in the areas of civil litigation and medical malpractice. A graduate of the Detroit College of Law (now Michigan State University College of Law), Judge Cox is a former president of the Livonia Bar Association and a former member of the State Bar of Michigan's Judicial Qualifications Committee, 1992-1996. He also served as chair of disciplinary panels for the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission and wrote opinions on disciplinary issues.
