Demonstration: Family Law Deposition
On-Demand Seminar (Posted 07/13/20) | CLE: 0.5 | MCJE: 0.5
Cosponsored by the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan
Available in the Partnership

The discovery rule changes in January 2020 have made depositions even more important in divorce cases. The same rules apply to depositions in divorce cases as in any other civil matter, but they do present some unique issues. Our experts explain when depositions make sense to use in a divorce case and then demonstrate how to prepare your client and perform the deposition.

  • Work with nonlawyer experts to get up to speed on the factual issues in your case
  • Anticipate the impact of the deposition on your client, and address their concerns
  • Elicit testimony on a broad range of issues to be better prepared for trial or settlement
