Adoption, paternity, surrogacy, and assisted reproductive technology (ART) remain critical practice areas in the wake of Obergefell and Michigan’s new Assisted Reproduction and Surrogacy Parentage Act (ARSPA). A highly experienced faculty will guide you through the maze of law and procedural steps, with special focus on the latest legal developments, so you can provide thoughtful, sensitive advice.
You will be able to:
- Counsel clients on issues surrounding assisted reproductive technology and the new ARSPA
- Establish parentage for children born via assisted reproduction
- Identify key provisions of the adoption code
- Recognize and handle different types of adoptions
- Determine requirements when requesting a termination of parental rights
- Advise clients on how paternity issues may affect adoption
