Kim Ross Clayson is an attorney in the bankruptcy and restructuring practice group at Taft Law (formerly Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, PC). She serves a diverse client portfolio in the areas of insolvency law, creditors’ rights, business law, and health law. Ms. Clayson provides counsel to operating businesses and to creditors of financially distressed businesses and individuals. She has extensive experience restructuring business debtors and representing creditors in collection and bankruptcy matters and Chapter 7 trustees in fraud investigations and bankruptcy litigation. In 2020, Ms. Clayson was appointed by the Department of Justice U.S. Trustee Program as one of five inaugural Chapter 11, Subchapter V, bankruptcy trustees in the Eastern District of Michigan under the Small Business Reorganization Act, which became law in February 2020. She serves as a board member for Outlier Media and also for the Economic Development Corporation for the City of Detroit. Ms. Clayson has served as a writer and speaker on health care law, bankruptcy law, and business-related topics locally and across the country. She has previously taught secured transactions and bankruptcy law as an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
