Hon. Jane E. Markey was first elected to the Court of Appeals in 1994 and reelected in 2002 to a six-year term. Prior to that, she served as a district court judge, was a prehearing attorney and law clerk for the Court, and worked as an attorney in private practice. A life fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, Judge Markey is a member of the Personnel and Quality Review Committees of the Court of Appeals and a member of the board of directors of Cooley Law School. She has served on faculties for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, the Hillman Federal Trial Skills Workshop, and the Michigan Judicial Institute, as well as ICLE. Judge Markey was also a mediator for the Kent County Circuit Court, 1986-1991, and a hearing panelist for the Attorney Discipline Board, 1989 to 1996.
