Tricia Baird is vice president, care coordination, Spectrum Health Delivery System, of Spectrum Health. She leads inpatient, transitional, and ambulatory care management, as well as utilization management, across the enterprise. The care coordination team uses registered nurses, social workers, and community health workers to focus management of complex disease patients and transitions of care. The care management team integrates specialty and regional care, along with connections to independent providers and community organizations, to support high-value care for West Michigan. Dr. Baird has experience on payor and provider sides of this work. During her time at Priority Health (the health benefits arm of Spectrum Health), she created strong operational plans in support of business goals. She led health plan quality, HEDIS teams, ACA clinical work, and value program design, working with the Michigan Quality Improvement Consortium, Association of Community Health Plans, and State of Michigan Certificate of Need work group to support safe and effective clinical care. Prior to joining Spectrum Health, Dr. Baird spent a decade in rural and suburban family practice, covering office and hospital care, including nursing home rounds and obstetrics. She was recruited to lead clinical care redesign as U.S. health policy evolved. As chief medical integration officer, she led clinical operations for a CIN, MSSP, and BPCI Classic, achieving gain share. She graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine and also holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts.
