Mark L. McAlpine

Auburn Hills, Michigan


Founding principal of the firm, Mark L. McAlpine practices primarily in construction law and related matters, including business formation, transactions, contract formation, real estate and development, negotiation, employment law, and dispute resolution. A member of the State Bar of Michigan and its Real Property Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Sections, he has served as chair of the ADR Section and chair of the ADR Ethics Subcommittee of the Professional and Judicial Ethics Committee. Mr. McAlpine has also served in the State Bar's Representative Assembly and as a past member and chair of the "Michigan Bar Journal" advisory board. He is active in the American Bar Association's Forum Committee on the Construction Industry and the Public Contract Law, Litigation, and Dispute Resolution Sections. Also actively involved with the American Arbitration Association, Mr. McAlpine is a member of its National Panel of Construction Arbitrators, chairs the Regional Council on Large and Complex Cases, and is a member of the National Large and Complex Cases Panel of Arbitrators. He has served on the teaching faculty of the Michigan Judicial Institute and is an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School, teaching contract and construction law. An engaged member of the Associated General Contractors of America, Mr. McAlpine also teaches construction law courses for various industry and trade organizations such as the Construction Association of Michigan. A frequent lecturer and author, he is listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" for construction law as well as in Super Lawyers for construction litigation, business litigation, and ADR.
