Mark S. Kopson, a shareholder resident in the firm, practices health care law and chairs the health care industry group. AV-rated, Mr. Kopson has practiced health care law for more than 30 years, with special emphasis on matters related to managed care. He represents health plans, payers and other managed care entities, health care providers, and clinically integrated networks in Michigan and throughout the United States. He has extensive experience and expertise in the areas of managed care negotiation, contracting and dispute resolution, performance/outcomes-based reimbursement and revenue cycle, as well as regulatory compliance and agency investigation response. Mr. Kopson’s practice also includes the formation and counseling of clinically integrated networks and regulatory issues related to for-profit acquisitions of nonprofit providers, including attorney general approvals and certificates of need. Mr. Kopson also is a neutral arbitrator for the AHLA's Dispute Resolution Service. He is a frequent speaker at AHLA programs and other national conferences and an instructor and guest lecturer for a variety of programs, groups, and professional organizations. Mr. Kopson is a Fellow and past chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Health Care Law Section and is a member of the American Bar Association and its Health Care Law, Business, and Law Practice Management Sections. He has been elected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, Michigan Super Lawyers, and “dBusiness” Top Lawyers for health care law numerous times.
