Richard E. Holmes practices primarily in the representation of the motor carrier industry throughout the United States and Eastern Canada. He is admitted to practice in multiple states and jurisdictions and has successfully tried multiple heavy trucking catastrophic injury cases. West Michigan's only invited member of the Trucking Industry Defense Association, Mr. Holmes is a trucking lawyer also active in the Defense Research Institute, serving as Michigan's liaison to the subcommittee on trucking law. In addition, he assists commercial transportation firms in the preparation of key documents necessary for the startup, operation, and purchase of trucking and other commercial entities. Mr. Holmes has an extensive history of working on behalf of individuals and corporations with federal entities, including the Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and Department of Homeland Security. He is a former member of the State Bar of Michigan's Negligence Law Section Council. Mr. Holmes is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Associations of Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, and Georgia. He is a frequent lecturer on the representation of parties in transportation claims as well as trial tactics and regulatory compliance in the United States and Canada.
