Hon. Lorie N. Savin was elected to the bench in November 2020 and was assigned to serve in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court’s Family Division. Prior to her current position, Judge Savin served the court as a referee with the Oakland County Friend of the Court for almost 18 years. Having focused her career on domestic relations and juvenile court matters, she also worked for a legal aid organization, in a small firm, and at a nonprofit where she represented abused and neglected children as their Guardian ad Litem. Before joining the FOC, Judge Savin also served as a mediator and as a community trainer on the topics of domestic violence and alternative dispute resolution. Judge Savin is a member of several professional organizations and has held leadership roles with the Referees Association of Michigan and the Michigan Inter-Professional Association on Marriage, Divorce, and the Family. She has served on several committees relating to judicial and legal ethics at the State Bar of Michigan for many years. Additionally, Judge Savin has been a presenter for the Michigan Judicial Institute, Institute for Continuing Legal Education, Oakland County Bar Association, and the Referees Association of Michigan. She is the author of several published articles.
