Melinda N. Deel is in private practice with her husband, Ryan J. Deel. Her primary practice areas include juvenile law, probate, and appeals. She has served on the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) board of directors since 2014 and is a past president of the OCBA. Ms. Deel developed the curriculum for and served as the moderator for the OCBA Juvenile Law Brown Bag Lunch lecture series for 17 years. She is a frequent author for the OCBA monthly publication, "LACHES," and has presented on many juvenile-related topics. She was honored to receive the OCBA Distinguished Service Award in 2007. Ms. Deel has also served as the chair of the OCBA Juvenile and Law-Related Education committees. In 2015, she was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to the Governor's Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, on which she served a two-year term. Ms. Deel was named one of the Michigan Lawyer’s Weekly Influential Women of Law in 2023.
