James L. Carey is a business and trust lawyer representing mid-sized companies and doing estate planning work for families. He is a professor emeritus of Cooley Law School. While at Cooley Law School, Mr. Carey was a professor and the director of the Corporate Law & Finance Graduate Program, teaching courses on many business topics. He continues to teach Advanced Corporate Transactions and Corporate Professional Responsibility for the Cooley LLM program. Mr. Carey is a past chair of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and is involved in several of its corporate law committees. In addition to his current law firm and his full-time teaching on the Cooley faculty, he has practiced law with the Business Transactions Group of Dickinson Wright, PLLC (Ann Arbor), and with the Corporate and the Insurance Services Groups of Sidley Austin Brown and Wood, LLP (Chicago, Illinois).
