John C. Bommarito is currently general counsel and corporate secretary for the agency and its family of companies. Prior to this, he was associate state counsel with LandAmerica Financial Group, and before that was in-house counsel for another large metropolitan Detroit title agent. Mr. Bommarito also has experience as an expert witness in disputes and litigation involving title insurance and real property. He graduated cum laude from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School and he received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Dayton. Professionally, Mr. Bommarito is a past president of the Michigan Land Title Association (MLTA) and present chair of the MLTA Legislative Steering committee; an ICLE contributing author; an active member of the State Bar of Michigan's Real Property Law Section; past chair of the Oakland County Bar Association Real Estate Committee; past president of the Italian American Bar Association; and a member of the Macomb County Bar Foundation serving on its scholarship committee. Mr. Bommarito enjoys opportunities to speak with customers, consumers and various trade associations in the multiple states where the agency operates and he has multiple articles published in various real estate, legal, and trade association publications. Additionally, he is a recipient of the MLTA’s Robert J. Jay award and the President’s Award from the Italian American Bar Association.
