Hon. Avery D. Rose took the bench on January 1, 2023. He was appointed to serve as the probate register for Kent County in 2019, where he oversaw the administration of the Probate Court and the Kent County Guardianship Program. Judge Rose also previously served as a law clerk at the 48th Circuit Court in Allegan County, was named probate register at the Allegan County Probate Court in 2015, and was elected to serve as president of the Allegan County Bar Association in 2017. He earned his JD and MLIS from Wayne State University and is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan. Judge Rose has been invited to speak on probate-related issues at the Michigan Judicial Institute, the Michigan Probate and Juvenile Registers Association annual conference, ICLE, and to several other community organizations.
